Hades 2 early access is now out and available to play on Steam. It is a sequel to the original classic that first wowed gamers in 2018 before then releasing onto more platforms. While the sequel is available to play, it is not the finished product as of yet. Here you will find the Hades 2 roadmap that shares how long early access will last along with upcoming new content planned to release through free updates.

In our Hades 2 early access review, we bestowed the game with a perfect 10/10 praising its fluid combat, stunning art style, and well-written characters. If you’re planning to play right now rather than waiting for the finished product, we do have a guide full of tips and tricks to help you master the experience.

Again, it’s not the finished product right now, but the roadmap does share lots of exciting new content planned following its initial launch.

Hades 2 roadmap

Developer Supergiant Games has shared a rough roadmap for Hades 2 early access. Supergiant Games is planning to release a major update later this year, but there’s no specific timeframe for when it will come out. The developer states that it ‘will take some months following our initial launch’.

In addition to the first major update, the developer says their ‘plan is to release a Major Update every few months containing new features and content, followed soon by patches to shore up any issues’. As for what new content will join the game, the following has been outlined by the developer:

  • New region:
    • A new region with ‘more characters, foes, and other surprises’.
  • New main weapon:
    • A new main weapon will be added to the game along with extra Weapon Aspects.
  • Crossroads update:
    • Will let players ‘unlock various cosmetic embellishments’ to customize the central hub area.
  • New music:
    • There is already two-and-a-half hours of music in the game, but will more be added as development continues.

This is everything that has been mentioned as coming to the game in the future by Supergiant Games. Again, there’s no specified timeframe, but the first major update will happen in a few months. In addition to all of the above, fans have discovered a possible in-game hint for DLC.

How long will early access last?

As for when Hades v1.0 will come out, Supergiant Games says they ‘expect to be in Early Access at least through the end of 2024’. The game’s Steam page also says ‘Depending on the duration of Early Access and the scope of additional content we add to Hades II over time, we may raise the retail price at a later point’.

Seeing as there’s the possibility the price may rise with the eventual launch of 1.0, it may be best to buy the game right now as it’s only £24.99. Even though it’s not the finished product, the game already ‘has more environments, foes, and fully-voiced characters than the full version of the original Hades game’.

Right now the game is only on PC via Steam and Epic Games, but there is the possibility it will join Nintendo Switch and other platforms when 1.0 eventually launches. Check out the official FAQ if you need more information.
