In Life is Strange: Before the Storm protagonist Chloe Price will ‘make her mark’ on the world by scrawling graffiti, where Life is Strange lead Max Caulfield took polaroid photos.

This was explained by Chris Floyd co-director at Deck Nine Games, the studio working on the three-part Life is Strange prequel. Speaking at a preview event, Floyd said ‘The graffiti feature replaces the photography feature from the first game. Max takes photographs, and Chloe makes her mark.’ Sometimes you’ll get options for what Chloe will write. We saw her scrawl ‘SIT AND SPIN’ around a circular saw blade.

Floyd also confirmed that the time rewind power Max used will not be present in Before the Storm. Chloe doesn’t have any powers at all, in fact.

‘We’ve decided to focus on what we think players really love about Live is Strange,’ said Floyd, ‘And that’s relatable characters facing real-world situations.’

The first episode of Life is Strange: Before the Storm arrives on August 31 for PS4, PC and Xbox One.
