Over on the Xbox, the release includes alternative control options – as well as the addition of achievements and a native 16:9 resolution up to 4K Ultra HD on supported displays.
Meanwhile, those on Nintendo Switch Online with an Expansion Pack subscription can now play the game with online multiplayer.
GoldenEye 007 Xbox and Nintendo Switch release date
GoldenEye 007 was released on the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on January 27, 2023. (Though in some territories, it was made available from late on January 26 as it rolled out worldwide.)
For Xbox, the game is available via Xbox Game Pass for all subscribers. It’s also available to all owners of the Rare Replay compilation on digital as a free add-on for no extra cost.
Meanwhile, on the Nintendo Switch – you’ll need a subscription to both Nintendo Switch Online and the Expansion Pack, with the game available as a new addition to the N64 Classic Catalogue of games.
Alas, those on Switch will not get to play online multiplayer, it seems. But the game will still support local and split-screen play. You’ll have to argue amongst yourselves who gets to be Oddjob.
It’s been rumoured for some time that a version of GoldenEye 007 would be coming to modern consoles – with achievements for the game first spotted online this past summer.
