The next God of War game could tell the story of Kratos and Faye’s relationship, if creative director Cory Barlog has anything to say about it (via games radar).

“Faye was the one I identified with the most,” said Barlog in an interview with PlayStation Access. God of War never showed Faye, and all we know of her are stories from her husband Kratos, their son Atreus, and other characters they meet on their journey. A mysterious sort, she was posing as a mortal but was in fact an Jotünn of Jötunheim, and exceptionally skilled in magical and physical combat. “You get to understand that she has way more power than all of them and is actually the controller of so much in this universe… I don’t know how we’re going to tell this or when we’re going to tell this, but I really want to tell the story of Kratos and Faye meeting.”

Despite its incredible critical and commercial success, God of War did not get DLC because Barlog’s intentions were “too ambitious.” But, that doesn’t mean that his ideas won’t ever see the light of day. It seems that Sony staffed up for what sounded like a God of War project in 2018, and if there is a new game in the works and it’s trundling along in a timely fashion, it could release for the PlayStation 5. Who’s to say? (Sony, for sure.)

God of War is out now for PlayStation 4.
