PlayStation 4-exclusive dad-’em-up God of War is just around the corner, and Sony’s released a new video overnight detailing one of the key gameplay aspects you’ll encounter in the title, namely its progression system.

The Norse mythology-inspired action title will allow you to full upgrade a number of attributes for Kratos and his pint-sized companion Atreus, including armour and abilities, tailoring the game to your own play style. You’ll be able to buff various stats such as strength, luck, and defence, while Kratos’ axe also features a unique skill tree to pour XP into.

God of War is due out for PS4 on April 20. Development lead Cory Barlog recently defended the various changes introduced in the title, insisting they were not made as a result of any pressure. Furthermore, he revealed that a full-fledged reboot of the series was never really on the cards.
