Sony Santa Monica offered up our best look yet at—and finally confirmed the title for— God of War: Ragnarok via a new trailer shown during the PlayStation Showcase.
Following on a few years after the events of the 2018 game, Atreus is a little bit older but seemingly no wiser about his heritage. Kratos is still trying to keep his son safe, and protect him from the prophecy he saw at the end of God of War. They’re not the only two characters returning of course, as it seems Freya is back for revenge following what you did to her son, Baldur.
She won’t be alone either. Further in the God of War: Ragnarok trailer, but it looks like Thor has arrived and he’s not best pleased with our favourite father-son duo. Friends are also returning mind, as Mimir’s severed head also seems to be sticking around too. While stretching the definition of “friends” we’d be remiss not to mention the return of the Leviathan Axe and Chaos Blades too.
There’ll be plenty of new characters too, of course. Many of which are from across the wealth of characters from Norse mythology. Whether they’ll be friend or foe we’ll have to wait to find out for sure. But we can expect Tyr, the Norse God of War and Angrboda, known in Norse mythology as the “mother of monsters”. But what role will she play here?
