The 2019 nominations for the annual BAFTA Games awards have just been announced, and it’s great news for God of War and Return of the Obra Dinn recieving a whopping ten and six nominations respectively.

Many of God of War‘s nominations come, understandably for its talented cast in the Best Performer category, racking up four of the six possible nominees for that category. It’s also up for Artistic Achievement, Audio Achievement, Game Design, Music, Narrative and Best Game.

Return of the Obra Dinn, Lucas Pope’s follow up to Papers Please that sees you playing detective to figure out what happened to the crew of the titular ship is also up in the Best Game, Artistic Achievement, Game Design and Narrative categories, but is also nominated in the Original Property and Game Innovation categories.

Elsewhere, relationship story game Florence is up for six awards including Debut Game (which also sees one of Colm’s favourites Yoku’s Island Express up for the same gong) and Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 also nabbed six nominations, while platformer Celeste is up for five.

The ceremony itself will take place in London on Thursday, April 4 in London. You can read the complete list of nominees and categories over on the BAFTA website.
