Ubisoft has included a subtle nod to its cancelled shooter Rainbow Six Patriots in the latest update for Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands.

The cheeky wink comes as park of Wildlands' crossover mission with Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, and takes place via some banter with your Operative and drone wizard Twitch. You end up prodding Twitch for more details, but your companion simply replies, 'Not even with a knife to my throat.'

Rainbow Six Patriots was announced in 2011 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, where it was teased via a prototype video depicting a civilian having a bomb strapped to him after being kidnapped by a terrorist group.

It caught a lot of attention (not all of it good, as it was seen as controversial at the time), although despite showing promise Ubisoft confirmed in 2013 that Patriots had been scrapped

The project was technically restarted for the then-upcoming next-generation consoles, although as we know it later evolved into something entirely new anyway. Not that we should be too down about it, as Siege turned out pretty damn fine in the end.
