Genshin Impact fans are calling for other players to be cautious as a recently discovered bug in the Chinese version of the game has seen world exploration points vanish from players’ games, halting their progress to 100%. This comes after a player shared this bug on the Shanghai-based video-sharing website Bilibili.

The video shows that an elemental totem, crucial to world exploration, was seemly deleted. Another post on Twitter from @HoyoverseJapan noted that “there is currently a critical bug that allows third-party software (probably Akebi) to be used to delete interactive objects in the game while online”.

Players have been left unable to progress with another user saying, “The destruction based on Kaveh E is irreversible, even if you reinstall, using another devices or cloud genshin. Presently, there is no way to get back the deleted items”. This has halted players’ in-game progress as certain items being deleted are crucial to solving in-game puzzles.

Given this seems to be solely affecting co-op games with some “troll” players deleting objects to prevent other players’ progression, many are urging others to stick with single-player for the time being so they don’t have their accounts “bricked”.

Alongside this, while one user on Reddit was quick to note that this bug originated on the Chinese version of Genshin Impact, they have urged global players to be cautious. They said, “Even if it can only happen in CN server, it is best to be cautious, as it is possible the same bug can happen in global servers”.

It’s fair to say that, for the time being, players should avoid joining a random player’s co-op server until this issue is resolved. In other Genshin Impact news, Genshin Impact fans already miss the old party screen for some strange reason. If you’d like to look at the game’s recent patch notes, you can do so here.
