Genshin Impact update 4.0 has finally been released giving old systems in the game something of a revamp, one such improvement being the party select screen, much to the equal joy and sadness of fans.
Looking through the official Genshin Impact Reddit page, one post bids farewell to the old party select screen. The post reads “Goodbye to the old party setup. You will be missed!” The comments, on the other hand, range from indifferent to elated at the change.
“It will not,” says one Redditor. Another commenter says: “I won’t miss it. Good riddance lmao.” Based on the reactions, it seems fair to say the new setup screen is a vast improvement on the old, bland screen we’ve been used to for the past few years of Genshin’s life.
Sure, Genshin has used the same setup screen since it first launched, but the new setup screen added in patch 4.0 makes it more lively and more appealing in every way. Not only does it change the bland background and character lineup, but this new party setup screen also gives each character in the game a unique intro animation that plays when you select them.
It wouldn’t quite be Genshin Impact if there wasn’t still something wrong with the party setup screen. As pointed out by another comment on the same post, one user says: “I honestly don’t care. All I want is for it to load as fast as possible so I can get in, switch, and get out.”
This comment alludes to the fact you have to wait for a brief window of time while the party screen loads. In this time, if you move your character, do anything, or happen to enter combat, the loading will cancel and you’ll have to do it again.
The background is no longer static and it changes the background based on which area you’re in – Sumeru, Liyue, Mondstadt, and Fontaine all have different backgrounds. Granted, there is something to be said for the nostalgia factor when something that has remained constant throughout Genshin has suddenly changed. However you feel about it, it’s hard not to love the new party setup screen.
