Over the past seven and a half years, Fortnite has banned numerous players. Most of them have received shorter bans, ranging from 24 hours to a couple of months. However, in rare cases, the Fortnite developer gave cheaters a lifetime ban. Not even big-time content creators were immune to this, as Epic Games banned Jarvis, a YouTuber with more than five million subscribers, for life.

In Fortnite Chapter 6, cheaters will get a second chance. This includes those who received lifetime bans, although Epic will keep them on a tight leash. In addition, cheating bans will be much stricter.

Fortnite cheaters will get a second chance

Epic recently announced that many banned Fortnite players will get a second chance. Starting in April, the game developer will roll out a new cheating policy, giving players who used cheats another opportunity to play Fortnite. However, this will only affect cheaters who were banned for at least one more year. The policy doesn’t affect players who sold cheats.

Furthermore, Epic clarified the ban duration for the following offenses:

  • Using cheats: One-year matchmaking ban for the first offense, lifetime ban for the second
  • Using cheats in tournaments: One-year matchmaking ban in addition to a lifetime ban from tournaments and loss of winnings for the first offense, lifetime ban for the second
  • Selling cheats: Lifetime ban

The company added that additional consequences may include legal action. Considering that Epic has sued several cheaters over the past few months, this scenario is not unlikely.

The game developer continuously improves methods to counter cheaters and block them from playing. Additionally, Epic encourages the community to report cheaters using Fortnite’s reporting system. Every report is reviewed by the developers, and those who submit them might even receive a notification when action is taken against the reported player.
