Epic Games is constantly looking for ways to improve Fortnite for millions of players. Thanks to these frequent improvements, the game is still going strong and dominating the battle royale genre, despite being in its eighth year. According to a recent report, the Fortnite creator was testing new servers in South Africa, but unfortunately, they haven’t gone live yet.
Considering that Africa has no Fortnite servers, adding this one would drastically improve the experience for many players from this continent. Unfortunately, it’s nearly impossible to tell when exactly these servers will be activated.
Will Fortnite add a new server in South Africa?
Earlier this year, it was reported that Fortnite was testing out new servers across the globe. More specifically, Epic Games had a plan to activate seven new servers for the popular video game, with three of them being in the USA. So far, a new server in Mexico has gone live, while the other six are still in the testing phase. This includes a server in South Africa, which was not enabled with the new season.
Epic hasn’t announced anything regarding these new servers, which is why we believe that they are still in development. Due to this, it’s hard to correctly predict the release date of servers in South Africa or anywhere else. However, we expect them to be enabled in the first six months of 2025.
At the moment, most Fortnite players from South Africa play either on Europe or Middle East servers. Considering how far south this country is, this results in extremely high ping, making the game nearly unplayable, especially in competitive modes. Despite being the second-largest continent, Africa still has no Fortnite servers, which is why millions of players struggle with latency.
