We are still in the first week of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4, yet Epic Games has already released a big nerf. Considering how many new items came with the season, this doesn’t come as a surprise. However, what is surprising is how much one item was nerfed. Due to this, it will be interesting to see how the community will react to these changes.

In this article, we will take a look at the detailed changes that came with the latest Fortnite update and the nerf that it brought. The update also brought a small buff, which should make a new weapon more effective.

The latest Fortnite update brings a massive nerf to War Machine’s Arsenal

War Machine’s Arsenal is a new weapon in Fortnite Season 4. This is one of three War Machine items in the season, and all of them are fantastic. However, what sets the Arsenal apart is its dual-firing mode that allows players to fire both bullets and rockets. It appears that this has been too much, as Epic drastically nerfed the rocket firing mode.

Here is more info about the War Machine Arsenal nerf:

  • The spawn chance of the Mythic item was decreased by 50%
  • Rockets now reload two times slower
  • Build damage reduced from 100 to 80 hit points

Considering that War Machine’s Auto Turret has also received a lot of complaints, Epic may nerf it in the future. This item was especially deadly when combined with the Arsenal and the Hover Jets.

Captain America’s Shield is another Marvel-themed item that received a nerf with the latest Fortnite update. The nerf affects both offensive and defensive capabilities of the new item. These are all the changes:

  • The item’s drop chance was reduced by 20%
  • First-hit damage was decreased from 60 to 50 HP
  • The shield now requires more accuracy to hone in on the target
  • It staggers after blocking 250 damage, down from 500

Finally, Epic buffed the Sovereign Shotgun. The close-range weapon now aims 25% quicker (from 0.4 to 0.3 seconds), and its ADS firing rate was slightly increased (0.65 to 0.68). Considering that the new Fortnite weapon hasn’t been very popular so far, this buff should make it slightly more effective.
