Epic Games has a lot of plans for Fortnite between now and the beginning of Chapter 5 Season 4. The next season of the battle royale is scheduled to begin in August, but there are some huge events for fans to anticipate before next month arrives. A new mode is said to be coming soon, and it will return many controversial items to Fortnite, but with a unique twist.

The biggest event to come before the arrival of Season 4 is no doubt the crossover with Pirates of the Caribbean. The release date for the upcoming Disney collaboration is imminent, and some truly fantastic new skins have leaked, including Johnny Depp as the famous Captain Jack Sparrow. In addition to PotC, a new leak has teased another massive collaboration, and fans are very excited by the prospect of it happening.

While Pirates of the Caribbean is the biggest thing set to officially happen in Fortnite, it appears that we are also set to get another unique LTM before the start of Season 4.

Fortnite leak reveals upcoming melee-only LTM

According to prominent leaker, Hypex, we are set to get a “melee-only LTM later this season”. There is no specific date for when the limited-time mode will arrive, but “later this season” implies before Season 4, which is expected to begin on August 16th.

In addition to being melee-only, Hypex has shared that it will include the following items and melee weapons:

  • All Heals + Shockwaves
  • Grapple Blade
  • Sideways Scythe
  • Shockwave Hammer
  • Nitro Fists
  • Chains of Hades
  • Kinetic Blade
  • Magneto Mythic

There will be more than just the above list. Some of these items are very controversial amongst the community. Nitro Fists were introduced in Chapter 5 Season 3, and there have been numerous complaints that they are too overpowered and make the game unplayable.

Other items included the list, such as the shockwave hammer, have been controversial in the past. The Shockwave Hammer, for instance, was removed in 2022 due to backlash from the community, and it was soon restored with nerfs that divided fans, only for it to then get vaulted again because of further community backlash.

Reacting to the prospect of a melee-only LTM, many of the replies to the leak from Hypex are full of scepticism. Some of the comments say this is the “Worst Fortnite Gamemode idea,” while other comments simply express concern that “this is going to be chaotic” and “sounds like a nightmare”.

While Nitro Fists and the Shockwave Hammer have both been controversial, along with some of the other items, the twist this time is that they will be in a mode that is strictly melee. It’s possible they will be less controversial in a melee-only LTM, but that remains to be seen.

Again, there’s no leaked launch day, but it is said to be happening “this season,” so before the arrival of Season 4 on August 16th.
