Fortnite Season 4 is here, and Epic Games released patch notes for it. The game developer added lots of new content with the update, including map changes, a new Battle Pass, gameplay improvements, and more. Once again, the new season brings a different loot pool and mechanics, which will force players to adapt their playstyles.

Interestingly, today is also the release day of another Fortnite OG Season. It brings the classic Season 5 map back, as well as the new OG Pass.

Map changes in Fortnite

With the release of Chapter 6 – Season 4, Fortnite brought several map changes. One quarter of the map has changed, and now we have new locations, as well as new enemies.

Season 4 brings many new items that will be available in the loot pool, including a new type of weapon called O.X.R.

Similar to the previous season, the rank starts at C and can rise to S+. Higher ranks unlock new loot, such as bunkers at A or Mythic drops at S+.

New cosmetics and Battle Pass

The new Fortnite Battle Pass brings eight new skins, along with many other cosmetics. As Epic Games revealed in the patch notes, the bonus skin in this Fortnite season is Dino Megazord, who will be available through the questline starting on September 16.

For the first time in Fortnite, we can unlock a free Battle Pass skin, which is UNSC Spartan. This skin will be granted to Battle Pass owners right away, while everyone else can obtain it by reaching level 100 during the new season. To help with leveling, Epic will enable Supercharged XP from August 15 to August 18.

Season 4 brings many other free gifts, including the following:

  • Goldskull Peel Pack Back Bling
  • Metal Menace Wrap
  • Tome of Skulls Back Bling
  • Skeletal Cyberscythe Pickaxe

The first item can be unlocked by any web shop purchase, while the others are available via Twitch Drops.

Epic Games has prepared lots of new content for the most popular mode in Fortnite, Blitz Royale, patch notes reveal. On August 12, the game developer will add the Oathbound Citadel POI, followed by Shock N’ Awesome Medallions, Boons, and Mythics a week later.

In the future, the game creator will add voting to this game mode, as well as new places and features.

Finally, the PC version of Fortnite received a new Performance mode. This mode drastically improves framerate at the cost of fidelity and visuals. The new mode will be based on DirectX 12 and replace the old one.
