The next Fortnite season is less than 12 hours away! Epic Games has prepared everything for it and will release tons of new content on Friday. However, before players can play the new Fortnite season, they will have to wait for downtime to end. According to the game developer, this process won’t be short, as we will have an extended downtime on Friday morning.

Most downtimes end within two to three hours, but the next one will be an exception. Considering that a new season is coming, this doesn’t come as a surprise. Due to this, the update will come out in the early morning, but the game won’t be playable until later in the day.

The next Fortnite downtime will last for more than five hours

As Epic Games already revealed, the new Fortnite season will bring many changes. From new locations on the island to the new Battle Pass, there will be plenty of content to keep players happy for at least a month. Unfortunately, this content drop also means that the update size will be much larger than usual and that downtime will be longer.

According to the Fortnite developer, the upcoming downtime is expected to end at 12 PM UTC or 7 AM Eastern Time. Epic is usually not 100% accurate with these estimates, which is why we expect servers to be down for longer than this. However, they should be up and running after six hours of downtime.

On several occasions, Epic Games ran into unexpected issues, causing downtime to last for more than 10 hours. The upcoming update will add a lot of new content, from a new Battle Pass to map changes. Due to this, servers will be down longer to ensure that the launch of Chapter 6 – Season 2 goes smoothly.
