Fortnite just hit the community with another massive ban wave. Numerous players have lost access to their accounts due to their actions over the past few days, and Epic Games will keep monitoring the game to ensure that no one goes unpunished. As previously announced, the game developer has made the moderation stricter lately.

Let’s take a deeper look at the latest ban wave in Fortnite and check what caused it.

The latest Fortnite ban wave has affected thousands of players

Last week, Fortnite released the Delulu mode. This is another battle royale mode, but for the first time, players are able to use proximity chat. This feature is useful, as players need to use it to communicate with others to form squads. Unfortunately, this feature has also showcased the negative side of the community, which is a reason for the ban wave.

“Remember to report voice chat behavior in-game that violates our community rules. This gives us evidence to quickly take action against rule breakers,” Epic Games reminded players. “Thousands banned already this weekend,” the company added.

Since the Delulu mode has proximity chat, everyone has to turn on the voice chat to matchmake. In other words, all 80 players in a lobby have to communicate, which has resulted in bans due to inappropriate behavior, such as saying slurs and using hate speech. Some players have received social bans, while others have lost access to their accounts for a limited time.

Epic will keep monitoring the voice chat and ensure that the Delulu mode is safe for everyone. It’s important to note that first-time offenders generally do not receive longer bans. However, repeated offenses result in longer bans that could last for weeks or months.
