Chart Track has revealed that EA’s FIFA 12 has become the third biggest launch of all time, selling 18 per cent more units than FIFA 11 managed and more than any title other than Call of Duty Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2.
In terms of platforms it’s the Xbox 360 that comes out on top, accounting for 54 per cent of sales, compared to 44 per cent on PlayStation 3.
FIFA 12 entered the UK All Formats All Prices video game chart at No. 1, pushing Gears of War 3 down to No. 2. We awarded the game a deserved 9/10 in our FIFA 12 review.
FIFA 12 was always going to be a big deal, but EA must be thrilled with its performance compared to last year’s effort. 18 per cent more units sales in launch week isn’t something to be sniffed at.
