F1 22 launched back on July 1, 2022 across PlayStation, Xbox and PC with fans enjoying the new features – including crossplay.

However, with the F1 season coming to the summer break, a driver update was needed.

This has resulted in EA increasing ratings to six drivers which have received the most significant rise – reflected of the season.

F1 22 Driver Ratings Increases

George Russell has improved vastly since his beginning with Mercedes

As mentioned, six managed to get an increase in their ratings, these are:

  • Zhou Guanyu (Alfa Romeo ORLEN): 70 OVR to 75 OVR (+5)
  • George Russell (Mercades-AMG Petronas) 90 OVR to 92 OVR (+2)
  • Mick Schumacher (Haas F1 Team) 77 OVR to 79 OVR (+2)

F1 22 Driver Rating Decreases

It’s been an unfortunate start to the season for Scuderia Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc

The drivers listed as follow have received the most significant regressed rating:

  • Valtteri Bottas (Alfa Romeo ORLEN) 88 OVR to 86 OVR (-2)
  • Yuki Tsunoda (Scuderia AlphaTauri) 78 OVR to 76 OVR (-2)
  • Charles Leclerc (Scuderia Ferrari) 92 OVR to 91 OVR (-1)

Surprisingly, Yuki Tsunoda following poor pace and performances this season saw him get docked down two overall ratings.

Similar comes with Valtteri Bottas which has had a disappointing end before the mid-season break.

Notably, Charles Leclerc has had a unfortunate season at Ferrari and it’s unfortunately affected his rating, docking him one overall rating.

How are ratings determined?

Ratings are determined by EA through a series of tangibles – these include:

  • Experience (EXP): The number of race starts a driver has over the course of their career
  • Racecraft (RAC): The driver’s ability to work their way through the pack and finish in a higher position than where they started
  • Awareness (AWA): The less time spent in the Steward’s room will help drivers here. Real-world punishments will impact the score in this category
  • Pace (PAC): Benefits those who get closest to the fastest qualifying and race lap times. A driver beating their teammate is also taken into consideration
  • Rating (RTG): The combination of the previous four ratings. This overall rating will go up and down throughout the season based on performance.
