Nintendo has announced that racer F-Zero X will grace the presence of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack this Friday.

Subscribers will be able to get their hands on the 1998 N64 classic later this week. If you’re not familiar, the futuristic speeder puts thirty competitors inside plasma-powered hovercars and sets them racing across high-speed courses. It’s all for the glory of coming first and crowning the champion of the F Zero-X Grand Prix contest.

As an added bonus, the Nintendo Switch Online version will get to take full advantage of the additional features of the service. That means there’s split-screen and online multiplayer with friends through Nintendo Switch Online – perfect to reignite those retro rivalries. Criminally, we’ve not seen a new F-Zero game on a home Nintendo console since 2003’s F-Zero GX on the GameCube.

The release follows hot on the heels of last month’s addition of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask to the service. Nintendo’s been drip feeding new additions to the N64 library on the service for some months now, including Banjo-Kazooie.

You can check out a trailer for the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack launch of F-Zero X below. The game arrives on the service this Friday, March 11.
