Evil West, the upcoming hack-and-slash horror shooter, has a new trailer, showcasing ten minutes of gameplay and a boss fight.

The publisher, Focus Entertainment, released the video via IGN. Check it out below:

As you can see, the game looks pretty bonkers. That giant bat looked nasty, too. The whole thing has a high-production gleam to it, which belies its pulpy subject matter.

Evil West is the latest in a recent streak of games to blend the Old West with fantasy. We had West of Dead, back in 2019, which featured the voice of Ron Perlman. And just this year we’ve had Weird Westwhich featured pig men. Both of those games had more of a rough-cut, heavily stylised aesthetic. Whereas the new game looks for all the world like a Triple-A shooter.

The developer is Flying Wild Hog, the studio behind the Shadow Warrior games and Trek to Yomi. It was recently featured in the Summer Game Fest showcase, with a reveal trailer.

The release date reveal trailer’s description reads:

“Get fired up by the explosive third-person action gameplay featuring an overpowering arsenal of weapons and guns. Take part in stylish, visceral combat as you unleash hell with your firearms, lightning-fueled gauntlet and gadgets.”

Evil West is out on September 20th, on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
