Jar Jar Binks can finally presumably breathe a sigh of relief as today he finally becomes not the most hated thing in the Star Wars universe, after EA has responded to the ongoing lootbox controversy in Star Wars Battlefront II, only to garner the most downvotes for any comment on Reddit ever. Owch.

The response was in a thread on the Star Wars Battlefront II Reddit bemoaning the fact that they had already spent $80 and yet would still have to unlock Darth Vader, a response from official account EACommunityTeam said: ‘The intent is to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment for unlocking different heroes.’

At the time of writing, the comment made just over 14 hours ago has not gone down well with fans, receiving more than 125 000 downvotes and climbing, making it the most downvoted comment in Reddit history.

For their part, EA said that initial values were selected ‘based upon data from the Open Beta and other adjustments made to milestone rewards before launch.’ and promise they’ll be ‘making constant adjustments to ensure that players have challenges that are compelling, rewarding, and of course attainable via gameplay.’

It remains to be seen how EA will attempt to respond to this clear message from fans, but they certainly have an uphill struggle as Star Wars Battlefront II launches on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC this Friday November 17.  Â
