If you’re hoping to find one of Diablo 4’s illusive unique items, you’re temporarily out of luck as Blizzard has disabled them as it addresses a bug that came to light following the game’s most recent patch.

While the most recent Diablo 4 patch was intended to give players more incentive to take part in Helltide events, it appears an unintentional side-effect made the update too effective, making these rare drops decidedly not-so-rare. After many players flagged up the increased rate of drops on the Diablo subreddit, Blizzard confirmed this was a bug on the official forums.

“We have temporarily disabled Uber Uniques from dropping in-game while we address an issue with Helltide Chest drops,” posted community manager Adam Fletcher. “Players will not be able to obtain the 6 Uber Unique items until a hotfix which we expect to be implemented on Friday afternoon Pacific Time. Other unique items will still be available from these chests.”

The hunt for the six Uber Unique items has been a major point of focus for the Diablo 4 community over the past couple of weeks, after a Blizzard employee revealed the existence of the super-rare items over on Twitter. They’re supposed to only drop from level 85+ enemies and are really rare, though players are currently finding some more useful than others.

Blizzard say they’ll have a hotfix for the issue and return the rare drops back into the cycle later today, June 7, but while you wait to resume your hunt, you’ll want to check out our guide to all the Diablo 4 unique items, weapons and gear. Meanwhile, last night Blizzard revealed all the details about Diablo 4 Season of the Malignant coming later this month.
