Diablo 4 contains a wide array of enemies both in the overworld and in dungeons, but none are arguably more infamous than the bloodthirsty Butcher. If you’ve been playing Blizzard’s latest ARPG installment since launch, then you’ve undoubtedly come across this obsessive monstrosity at some point in your adventure through Sanctuary.

Now, even though learning how to beat The Butcher is easier said than done, this gargantuan task gradually becomes much simpler the more you get used to its tendencies and the higher your level goes. However, it seems that some players aren’t quite satisfied with simply facing and defeating The Butcher as many within the community are now asking for more surprise bosses that appear out of nowhere while you innocently navigate a dungeon.

One user named Consistent-Ship-8418 even created a Reddit post saying that “there should be one for every class” so that a rare weapon, like The Butcher’s cleaver, has a possibility of being dropped each time. Naturally, most fans commenting under the thread agreed with the post creator as one particular user even said that they believe the developers “will add more encounters like it.”

However, there are a few responders who aren’t quite as fond of these encounters as The Butcher’s tendency to appear at random times means that it can ruin your hardcore run in an instant. For this reason, one commenter is simply hoping that these enemies are kept “out of hardcore,” while another player noted that they did not want more surprise bosses because they are “not a fan of having their cheeks clapped unsolicited.”

Whether or not Blizzard plans on adding more Elites like The Butcher remains to be seen as we’re still in the early days of Diablo 4’s release. If enough players do ask for more surprise bosses, though, then the developers may have no choice but to introduce more dungeon-ruining enemies to the game.
