Since its launch, Diablo 4 has had a widespread inventory issue that’s consistently prevented players from stocking up on gear and other necessary resources. Unfortunately, with the arrival of Season 1, this problem only seems to have been magnified as the addition of the ever-present Malignant Hearts to the game is making stash and backpack space even more scarce than it was before.

With both Diablo 4 gems and Malignant Hearts now being dropped frequently when venturing through Sanctuary, trips to the communal cache have become commonplace with the release of Season 1. And now that the latest story arc is well underway, players are currently having twice as much trouble managing their meager backpack space. The dire inventory situation is further evidenced by Interesting_Tone1290‘s Reddit post, wherein they attached an image of their own bleak storage status.

Based on the graphic they provided, it appears that more than half of their character’s in game backpack, which is only made up of 33 slots, is already occupied by a mixture of different colored gems and Malignant Hearts. Of course, this makes playing an ARPG loot ’em up problematic since the myriad demonic jewels that you get will constantly require you to travel to a stash just to drop them off.

Naturally, most of the comments under Interesting_Tone1290’s post largely agreed with their sentiment as Pattont said: “I literally laughed out loud when I saw the new stuff taking up additional inventory space that [I] already don’t have enough of.” Onkelcuno then responded to the previous statement by noting that “before [the] season [started], I had 3 mules and 3 [characters] I played. That means I have 4 character slots left for this league. [It’s] gonna be tight [because the developers] added neither slots nor chest space.”

Luckily, the Diablo 4 development team has often displayed their receptiveness towards these types of suggestions so they may already be working on an amicable solution that will make life easier for all parties involved. For now, though, you’ll just have to bear with the dire inventory situation at hand until the day comes when storage space will no longer be an issue.
