Diablo 4 developer Blizzard has launched a couple of in-game hotfixes in quick succession that see the return of Uber Unique item drops in Helltide chests. However, an update that was released earlier in the day also brought about a nerf to Blood Lance, the popular Necromancer skill, so these changes may be bittersweet for some within the community.

According to community manager Adam Fletcher’s recently updated Blizzard forum post, it seems that the previous Uber Unique exploit that saw numerous players acquiring the rare Harlequin Crest helmet has finally been fixed. This means you’ll now have to grind even more ahead of the Diablo 4 Season 1 start date if you plan on acquiring any of the game’s ultimate pieces of equipment to prepare for the new chapter.

In addition, the developers also revealed that only 142 accounts were able to acquire an Uber Unique item after the release of the latest patch notes, a surprisingly low number considering the exploit was up for a considerable amount of time. Fortunately, it appears Blizzard has decided not to remove these items from the accounts, although, they did note that they “may need to take action to maintain fairness within the game” in the future.

Alas, the return of Uber Unique drops doesn’t mean that it’s all sunshine and rainbows with these Diablo 4 hotfixes because, as mentioned before, an earlier update was also released that saw a nerf to the Necromancer’s Blood Lance ability. However, this specific nerf wasn’t made simply because the skill was overpowered. Instead, the developers decided to make this particular change because Blood Lance has apparently been crashing the game in certain scenarios.

Blizzard would state that “this is a temporary solve while the team reworks the way the Legendary Aspect will function, and we expect this change sometime in Season 1 or shortly after.” Luckily, with the game’s inaugural chapter only a handful of days away, you won’t have to wait too long now just to run a Blood Lance-based skill tree with your best Necromancer build.
