The Diablo 4 hardcore race to level 100 has finally gotten its first winner as ARPG content creator cArn_ was able to complete the feat even before the game was fully released. The former Starcraft and Dota 2 player will now have his username carved onto a physical statue of the game’s antagonist, Lilith, which Blizzard will presumably put up once all 1000 race winners have come forward.
Upon reaching the top of the hardcore leaderboards, he immediately made his achievement known to the community via a Twitter post that included a clip of the victorious moment. A quick look at the video then showed cArn_ using his best Barbarian build to plow through all of the enemies found throughout Sanctuary using this class’s deadly Whirlwind skill.
Of course, he also managed to achieve the improbable task rather quickly with the help of his group who are similarly attempting to reach the top of the leaderboards themselves. Based on the levels they were at in the snippet, they may have already reached it themselves as they were all in the high 90s when cArn_ posted the clip on Twitter.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a leaderboard available for the race that lets people keep track of other players’ progress. This means that competitors can only rely on reports through Diablo 4 forums and social media sites to have an idea of where they’re at in the challenge. But since the race will only conclude once 1000 users have come forward, it may be a long while until we actually see the competition’s final stretch.
