Destiny 2 is set to head into the new Frontiers era later this year. Per the 2025 roadmap from Bungie, it kickstarts with Apollo in the summer, and will then be followed by Behemoth in the winter. Extensive story leaks for Frontiers emerged in October last year, and they garnered a divisive reception from players. These Destiny 2 Frontiers leaks are now reportedly confirmed to be “true,” so it’s definitely worth revisiting what story spoilers were leaked.
Destiny 2 Frontiers leaks
Destiny 2 Frontiers leaks emerged online from Discord by Liz in October 2024. Liz is a well-known leaker for D2, but the story spoilers have now been affirmed as “true” by D2Leaks on X. D2Leaks has said they “did not want to post [about the leaks] until something was confirmed, seems that this ended up being true”.
Below is what was leaked by Liz:
- Story will no longer be one linear narrative.
- Pre-Golden Age train crashes into the city somewhere. Only half of it though, as it came through a portal.
- Some dude on it named Lodi. Somewhere on said train or him is a calling card for the Nine.
- We track the location of the portal’s origins, which takes us to the new destination.
- I’ve been told the name is “Keplar,” although I assume it was supposed to be Kepler. My personal guess is that this is a placeholder name, as Kepler planets are very generic in naming due to the telescope used.
- Upon finding the other half of this train, there’s another character who has left the Nine.
- This planet’s Time is all f**ed up. Seems like vex and fallen will be the enemies here. Vex seeing as time is kind of their thing.
- Apparently, we were “brought” here because some sort of incident with the Nine.
Story beats:
- One of the Frontiers stories focuses on Osiris and the person we find on the train in the new destination.
- One of the fallen houses is on this planet, seem to be the main antagonist.
- Ikora investigates the Lodi guy we found on the train.
- Something to do with Drifter and his ship. I don’t actually know any Destiny lore. So, I’m guessing he has ties.
- Apparently, it’s a Vex raid due to them being there. Personally excited, as we haven’t had a new Vex raid since Shadowkeep.
While Liz said all the above “sounds like nonsense even though I’ve confirmed the source,” D2Leaks now claims this is “true”. Of course, these are still leaks and not to be taken as gospel.
Although just leaks, the reception from fans is divisive. In the replies to D2Leaks on X, a comment says, “’one of the stories focuses on Osiris’ well that’s my cue, I’m out, have fun guys”. Another comment says, “oh another boring lacklustre expansion, with the same 11 years old enemies. Wow. Shocking. Glad this game died”.
On Reddit, when the leaks initially emerged, the reception was divisive, too. There were more comments suggesting fans are done with Osiris such as, “I am so over Osiris narratives for awhile”. Another comment said, “So sick of the vex,” and another said, “the fallen still being enemies doesn’t make sense anymore”.
Again, these are only leaks rather than anything official. And, even if the leaks are “true” as claimed, it’s still possible Frontiers could be excellent. There was a lot of negative feedback to leaks about The Witch Queen, and that turned out to be phenomenal, so the same is definitely possible for Frontiers.
