Bungie has released a new Destiny 2: Forsaken trailer revealing how Cayde-6 meets his maker during the outbreak at the Prison of Elders.

It's already been confirmed numerous times that the popular Hunter Vanguard will be killed off in Destiny 2's impending expansion, although up until now we only knew one thing: he takes a hand cannon to the face.

The new trailer, however, confirms that Cayde-6 (voiced by Nolan North this time around, who replaces Nathan Fillion) puts up a bloody good fight before kicking the bucket. Check it out below.

Destiny 2: Forsaken is due for release on September 4 for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One.

While the main campaign sees you on the hunt for Cayde-6's killers, Forsaken brings a wealth of other new content too, including the Breakthrough and Gambit multiplayer modes and a host of new Exotic armour and weapons.

There's also a sprawling new endgame experience called The Dreaming City to tuck into, plus overhauled Nightfall and Vanguard strikes.
