Dead By Daylight received an update earlier this week that provided some changes to killers and perks. This is the update that also released Chapter 33.5 to introduce Tome 21, Dominus. As a follow up from this update, BeHaviour Interactive has confirmed one of the affected DBD perks is getting a buff “to make it easier to get your tokens back”.

You can check out the update 8.3.0 patch notes to see all of the killers and perks changed earlier this week. This update also comes with one million Bloodpoints for simply logging into Dead By Daylight. Speaking of Bloodpoints, BeHaviour Interactive has responded to speculation from the community that BP bonus incentives have been nerfed.

While there were a lot of reasonable changes in update 8.3.0, BeHaviour has agreed with complaints about the Distortion perk.

Dead By Daylight Distortion perk is getting buff

In Dead By Daylight update 8.3.0, the Distortion perk received the following changes:

  • Start with 1 token. (was 3)
  • When your aura would be read, consume a token and hide your scratch marks and aura for the next 8/10/12 seconds. (was 6/8/10)
  • For each 30 seconds spent in chase, gain 1 token, up to 2. (was while hiding in the Terror Radius)

Since this update, there has been division on the BeHaviour Interactive forums. A lot of the complaints are about how the perk has been nerfed with one user proclaiming “80% of my matches were garbage because all the Distortion users could not last 20s in chase”.

In response to the complaints, community manager, Peantis, admitted “30 seconds in chase per token is a little steep”. BeHaviour Interactive are planning to deliver a buff for the Distortion perk in “an upcoming patch,” and this buff will adjust “Distortion’s recharge time to 15 seconds per token”.

The idea is that “This should make it a little easier to get your tokens back after you’ve been found”.
