Dead By Daylight 2v8 mode is coming to an end. It was originally intended to conclude last week, but BeHaviour has extended its stay. The mode is not becoming permanent for the time being, but it will return at some point in the future. DBD leaks show a list of killers with AI code written for them, and there is the possibility it “could be for 2v8” when the LTM returns in the future.

BeHaviour has extended 2v8 mode until 8AM PT/11AM ET/4PM BST on August 15th. While its imminent departure is unfortunate, there is plenty else to anticipate this month. The August 2024 roadmap includes a bunch of great skin collections on the way, meanwhile, we will get the CastleVania chapter on August 27th with perks revealed for Dracula and Trevor Belmont.

All of the above is exciting, but the disappointment surrounding 2v8 mode’s departure is understandable. We don’t know when it will come back, but BeHaviour is planning to add more killer variety.

Dead By Daylight killers with AI code written for them

Dead By Daylight leaker, RuthelessLeaks, says the following killers have AI code written for them:

  • Leatherface
  • Clown
  • Deathslinger
  • Demogorgon
  • Doctor
  • Pyramid Head
  • Ghostface
  • Legion
  • Freddy
  • Oni
  • Pig
  • Plague
  • Myers
  • Spirit
  • Hag

For the above list, Ruthless says “They are still being worked on, none have been tested for 2v8 just yet”. In the replies, a user asked if they will be part of 2v8 2.0, and RuthlessLeaks replied, “I’m unsure if this will just be them [BeHaviour] adding ai killers to public games once a killer disconnects or if it’s for 2v8, it could very well be for 2v8 though”.

Although 2v8 mode is coming to an end soon, the current implementation is only the “first iteration”. There’s unfortunately no mention of when the LTM will return, but there will be a second coming sometime in the future.

As for how the mode could be improved, BeHaviour Interactive posted on the game’s Twitter account that “matchmaking wait times can be iteratively reduced through more Killer variety and a more compelling Survivor experience”. This suggests more killers will be added to the current lineup of The Huntress, The Wraith, The Nurse, The Hillbilly, and The Trapper.

While the above list shared by RuthlessLeaks “could be for 2v8,” it’s possible it also applies to bots in custom matches. Back in the developer update for October 2022, BeHaviour stated, “While the first version of the [bots in custom matches] feature focuses on Survivor bots, we plan to include Killer bots in a future update so you can practice against each Killer as well. This will take some time, however, since the AI needs to be trained to use each Killer’s power first”.

Hopefully it is for 2v8 mode as well as bots for custom matches and for the AI to take over when a killer disconnects. One of the big problems with 2v8 mode has been killer queue times along with almost everyone always picking The Huntress. More killers are certain for the second iteration of 2v8, it just remains to be seen who gets added to the lineup of evildoers.
