A new season will dawn in Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled and it’s the Spooky Grand Prix limited-time event, with a new track, racers, and thematic items on offer (via Eurogamer).

Nina Cortex, Dr. N. Brio, and Komodo Moe are the three characters to be introduced in this spooky season. N. Brio and Komodo Moe will appear in the Pit Stop, whereas Nina will be unlocked for the cream of the karting crop as a Nitro Gauge Gold tier reward. Along with the trio of characters, a trio of new karts are up for grabs. The Nautilus, Phantom, and Skull Rider will strike fear in the heart of competitors and are very in season right now. The former two cars will be part of the Nitro Gauge, like Nina, but the Skull Rider will be found in the Pit Stop.

The Pit Stop will be crammed with creepy decals, stickers, and paint jobs. Halloween skins are on offer too, and if players missed any limited-time content from the first Grand Prix, a collection of items and racers will be coming their way. And, the new Cup Race — The Lost Cup — will include tracks from the previous seasons, like the Twilight Tour and Prehistoric Playground

The new track included in this spooky season is Nina’s Nightmare, so watch out for the paranormal activity hell-bent on your demise. And, the Ghost Hunt is a totally new and unique challenge, in which racers will smash crates to free the spectre trapped inside. Chase down that ghost to catch it and complete Grand Prix challenges, and the more crates that are destroyed, the more ghosts will be swooping overhead and the more opportunity there is to complete challenges. Never fear, though: it’s not possible for a competitor to capture a ghost that you released, and the considerate poltergeists won’t lead you off the beaten track.

The update will introduce a few improvements that players have brought up through feedback. Driving Style is now customisable and is no longer locked to the racer they choose. These styles have been clarified with new names, too: Beginner is now Turn, Intermediate A is now Balanced, Intermediate B is now Acceleration, Advanced is now Speed. A fifth and sixth Driving Style has been added, and these two are Drift and Classic, the latter choosing the character’s original Style as the default. Players will now be able to mix and match Driving Styles with their favourite racer, which is a small but significant change.

Also, N. Tropy Clock and Warp Orb items will no longer be used in the AI drivers’ arsenal, and these powerups won’t be included at the beginning of online races. There will be a 2x Wumpa Weekend featured for all game modes, letting players double their Wumpa Coin rewards beginning at 9.00pm on Fridays and ending at 9.00am on Mondays.

The Spooky Grand Prix will begin on October 4 and end on November 3. Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled is out on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Watch the Spooky Grand Prix trailer below.
