Beenox has been talking about what we can expect from the single player portion of the upcoming kart racer Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled when it releases next month.

Writing on the PlayStation Blog, creative director Thomas Wilson spoke on how the original game's adventure mode was a pretty unique idea at the time, and how the team at Beenox wanted to capture that for this version. To that end, there'll be several different types of challenge, such as Trophy Races, Relic Races, Boss Races and Gem Cups to name but a few. Players will be able to earn new customisation items including new characters, new carts and much more by beating these challenges.

Wilson also spoke on how players used to be locked into one character selection at the start of adventure mode in the old games, while the new title will allow you to change whenever you want, in case you feel a certain character will help you tackle specific courses.

However, if you're a purist and you prefer the old ways, Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled will also include a toggle option. One the 'Classic' setting, players will be locked into the cart and character selection they made at the outset, while the new 'Nitro Fueled' setting will allow you to change any of these at almost any time. (Although you'll still earn all collectibles such as new carts and characters as normal.)

Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled is set to launch on June 21 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC and recently showed off its customisation features in a trailer.
