Cities Skylines 2 delayed on console into next year

Cities Skylines 2 has been delayed on console, the game’s official social channels have announced.

Though the incoming management sim is retaining the currently scheduled Cities Skylines 2 release date on PC, the teams at Colossal Order and Paradox have decided that the game needs a little longer in the oven on Xbox and PlayStation 5, and the game now won’t arrive on home consoles until the Spring of 2024. “We are hard at work getting the game ready for our release on October 24th,” reads the official statement. “While doing so, we have come to realize that we need more time to reach the quality targets we have set. As we want to provide the best experience for our players, we are updating the release window for Xbox and PS5 to Spring 2024. The additional time allows us to focus on matching the quality and performance across all platforms.”

In addition to the delay, the company has also upped the minimum specifications for the upcoming city builder sequel, and are advising players to check their systems before they install the game. Cities Skylines 2 will also still be available on Game Pass, but now of course the PC version will be available on there on the original October date, and the Xbox version won’t be available until whatever final date winds up being set for the console release.
