Capcom is teasing some kind of announcement or reveal this coming Sunday by way of a mysterious countdown website.

The Capcom Countdown timer website went up in the early hours of Monday morning. It appears to be counting down to a reveal, set to take place on Sunday, February 20 at around 6am UK time. There’s no other details to go on, so we’re left to speculate as to what the mysterious clock is for.

However, some light detective work may have offered up a few clues as to what this mysterious countdown could be. As Video Games Chronicle points out, the date coincides with that of the Street Fighter Pro Tour Season Final. Said event will take place between Friday February 18 and February 20 and celebrates some of the best Street Fighter players in the world.

It’d certainly be a good place to announce a new Street Fighter game. As VGC also note, this year marks the 35th anniversary of the seminal beat-em-up classic since its release in Arcades in 1987. The Japanese Street Fighter Twitter account told fans back in January to look forward to future developments in the series.

In addition, at the end of November, Street Fighter V welcomed its final DLC character to its roster. Luke was described by the studio as being “A major part of the next Street Fighter project” – so the pieces are certainly lining up for the case of a Street Fighter VI.

Of course, it could be something else entirely. There’s also series like Resident Evil, Monster Hunter or maybe mysterious PlayStation exclusive Pragmata to consider. We’ll have to wait and see when the Capcom countdown clock expires this Sunday, February 20 at 6am. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for now, and loop you in when we know more.
