The new Call of Duty 2023 installment that’s set for release towards the latter part of the year is reportedly going to be named Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The upcoming entry in Activision’s ever-popular FPS series will apparently contain a zombies mode as well that is “essentially an Outbreak 2.0.”

According to an article from Insider-Gaming, Modern Warfare 3 will allegedly feature a campaign and a multiplayer mode in addition to the long-awaited return of a zombies match offering. A new Warzone 2 map named Las Almas is apparently going to be introduced during the game’s first season as well. This means you’ll need to keep your best Warzone 2 ranked loadouts up to date so you can keep up with the changing meta.

Modern Warfare 3’s featured campaign will reportedly be a continuation of MW2’s own story, so you will need to finish the current plot line to understand the next game’s events. But with the new installment rumored to launch on November 10, you’ll still have plenty of time to catch up on the tale of Captain Price and the gang. Keep in mind, though, that this date is yet to be confirmed by Activision so you’ll need to take it with a grain of salt.

However, one aspect of the game that’s seemingly been confirmed is that Sledgehammer Games will be leading the development of Modern Warfare 3. Of course, they won’t be the only ones working on the project as they’ll also “be supported by various other Call of Duty studios, just like its predecessors.”

Upon learning of Sledgehammer Games’ involvement with the upcoming installment, players couldn’t help but be excited as the studio has largely been known for creating some of the most celebrated entries in the series, such as the 2011 Modern Warfare 3 and Advanced Warfare in 2014. Only time will tell, though, if this new creation will live up to the hype or if it will simply be another afterthought within the oversaturated FPS genre.
