After two years of waiting, the almighty Paladin class is returning to Diablo. After content creators teased the class’ return to Diablo 4, developer Blizzard has now leaked the Paladin’s long-awaited return for the game’s upcoming expansion.
Spotted by the content hungry folk that spend their days observing Blizzard servers for any hint of new content, Blizzard has uploaded a build for Diablo 4 that shows exactly what’s coming to the live-service ARPG.

Diablo 4 revives the Paladin
Over the past few days, Blizzard uploaded a build of Diablo 4 to their servers with the following name: “2.5.Xpaladin.67961”. This comes after content creators were shown an upcoming build of the game that is said to fix multiple major issues with the ARPG.
Right now, the game is on version 2.3.3 with version 2.5 being two seasons in front of the current game. However, if Blizzard follows the same rules it did for Vessel of Hatred, the Paladin update should actually be build 3.0 when it actually releases.
Just because a build of the game has the name “paladin” doesn’t mean that the beloved class is actually included in the game. It’s not an official announcement. However, speaking frankly, it would be downright stupid to name a build Paladin that doesn’t include the Paladin.
The Paladin class has been a staple of the series since the release of Diablo 2, and its absence from the fourth game has been severely noticed. Hell, even Diablo Immortal has the class, although that game keeps getting more content than D4 players anyway.
Alongside the returning Paladin, the upcoming Diablo 4 expansion is expected to return to Westmarch, last seen in Diablo Immortal. Following the NPC dialogue in Season 9 of the current game, it seems that Mephisto’s plans are taking players back to the location with another Prime Evil set to return.
The next Diablo 4 expansion is expected to release sometime at the start of 2026. More updates are also planned for the game as part of Blizzard’s decade-long internal roadmap.
