The hype surrounding the launch of Black Ops 6 is starting to reach fever-pitch levels, with Call of Duty fans eagerly waiting to get their hands on 2024’s release and load into the action as fast as possible.

When the servers begin to switch on, you can utilise the New Zealand trick to play matches ahead of the official launch times but if you really want to play at the earliest possible moment, it’s going to cost you way more than simply pre-ordering Treyarch’s latest entry into the franchise.

Physical Black Ops 6 copies are in the open

Despite Black Ops 6 not launching until October 25, some fans have managed to get their hands on physical copies of the game in advance. Instead of waiting for the launch time to hit, some are selling them for way over the intended asking price much to the amusement of players.

A Reddit post from user TheChampagneSway shows a PS5 copy of Black Ops 6 being sold for $300 (£230) on the Facebook Marketplace, which is far more expensive than the Vault Edition of the game that comes with a wealth of exclusive cosmetics and access to the Season 1 BlackCell battle pass.

Fans who are waiting for the exact release date are already wondering why some would pay through the nose. One says: “Who’s going to tell the buyers they won’t be able to play yet?” Another adds: A disc with 55mb inside and the servers offline lol.”

As the new CoD game does require an internet connection and a fully-updated version of Call of Duty HQ to play the game’s single player campaign, anyone who purchases the new game early still won’t be able to play.

Nevertheless, it’s unclear how the seller has managed to get their hands on several copies before launch. What’s even more unclear is why some would pay an extortionate amount of money for a game that’s not even ready to play yet.

Watch out for spoilers

With players managing to get hold of Black Ops 6, you may want to avoid social media for a while as the potential for encountering campaign spoilers is extremely high. Some are already seeing parts of the storyline and are warning them against searching for the latest Black Ops 6 intel.

Based on what we know so far, the new shooter’s campaign is full of twists and we’ll be sure to avoid any kind of spoilers that are floating around.
