Call of Duty fans can now earn the prize of a lifetime as a Black Ops 6 promotional giveaway has an actual mortgage deposit up for grabs. To promote the upcoming CoD game, Activision is giving fans the opportunity to win a deposit worth £100,000, and fund the creation of an unspecified gaming room.

The Black Ops 6 mortgage giveaway

Constructed in a Safehouse Challenge, fans will vote for one of three influencers to win the the event. If your selected influencer wins, you’ll be added to a prize draw for the house deposit. The influencers include Angry Ginge, Ash Holme and Danny Aarons.

As Black Ops 6 is set in 1991, Activision will give fans the money to land a deposit for the standard home in that period, albeit with sizable inflation to match the atrocious modern housing market.

“Call of Duty is giving away £100,000 for someone to buy their own Safehouse – which will cover the standard house price in 1991 (which was £57,959), additional money to kit it out, legal and solicitor fees. With 46% of 18–24-year-olds** fearing they’ll never be able to afford their own home, the £100,000 prize is more than just a sum of money; it’s a lifeline, offering a substantial hand toward their own ‘Safehouse’,” a press release reads.

However, with the standard price of a house now almost four times what it was in the early 90s, and that’s in a city that’s not a population mass, the lucky winner will have to front some of the cost themselves as well. Nevertheless, any little helps, right?

Killer promotion

Over the years, we’ve seen some absolutely wild video game promotions. The infamous Burnout 3 speeding ticket promotion, Acclaim getting fans to name their newborn baby Turok and fake Christian protests for Dante’s Inferno come to mind. Oh yeah, remember that million-dollar Saints Row edition?

Despite this, the new Black Ops 6 mortgage giveaway is probably the best prize ever, at least for a low-paid games journalist in a market ravaged by layoffs. Will I ever own a house? Probably not, but at least I can play Call of Duty? Silver linings, maybe.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 releases on Xbox, PlayStation and PC on October 25, 2024. The game will also be available via Xbox Game Pass.
