There’s nothing worse than encountering a hacker while playing Black Ops 6 online. Whether you’re grinding for camos in Nuketown 24/7 or attempting to climb the ranks in Ranked Play, running into cheaters is a hugely frustrating issue that continues to impact players loading into the action.

With attention turning to Season 1 Reloaded and the next content drop, fans are hoping Ricochet anti-cheat bolsters its efforts after banning thousands of accounts from the leaderboards. As part of the ban wave, the very best player on the leaderboard has disappeared, much to the delight of legitimate players watching the number of hackers starting to fall.

The best Black Ops 6 player is banned

The recent wave of bans has cleared over 19,000 cheaters from the main leaderboards alongside the Ranked Play ladder giving those who aren’t cheating the best chance of claiming the top spot. On November 26, 2024, it was revealed a player going by the name of Hanser had their name removed from the leaderboards after holding the number one spot in recent weeks.

On paper, it looks like Hanser has all the skills to compete against those playing in the Call of Duty League. Upon further inspection, the player in question was using cheats to gain an unfair advantage over their opposition enabling them to climb the leaderboards with ease. While some players are pleased with the ban, others aren’t impressed with the length of time it’s taken. One fan says: “There has been evidence of Hanser using cheats since June 2024.” This means it’s taken Activision over six months to capture Call of Duty’s biggest cheating culprit.

On the plus side, it’s encouraging to see the Black Ops 6 anti-cheat finally taking action against those intent on ruining matches for players looking to top the leaderboards without resorting to cheating on the virtual battlefield.

More is needed

Banning the player at the top of the Black Ops 6 leaderboards is a statement of intent from Ricochet anti-cheat. Hackers continue to run rampant in both casual and competitive modes, resulting in players avoiding playing what’s one of the best Call of Duty games in recent years.

Black Ops 6 is the most successful entry into Activision’s shooter franchise and if further measures aren’t taken quickly, hackers will continue infesting the leaderboards bringing them into disrepute. The team behind the anti-cheat is aware of the cheating influx so it might be a while before you load into a match without a hacker in the lobby.
