Liverpool-based studio Bizarre Creations, best known for its Project Gotham Racing series, Geometry Wars and more recently Blur, will cease operations on Friday, February 18, reports Develop.

Late last year it looked a possibility that the studio would live on under the ownership of a new publisher, but no buyer could be found.

Activision exec Coddy Johnson revealed the publisher had decided the best course of action was to shut the studio.

“Unfortunately, so far we’ve not been able to find any interested parties. So we’ve made as a last resort, a recommendation to the team for closure.”

Our best wishes go out to all those affected by the studio’s closure.
