Baldur’s Gate 3 has undoubtedly become one of the most beloved CRPGs of the last ten years in just its opening week. With new records being set for Larian Studios and the game seeing major success on Steam there’s one companion that has seen a huge level of love from players and has continued to cement a growing trend in 2023.

Larian Studios recently revealed that Scratch, Baldur’s Gate 3’s dog companion, has been petted over 750,000 times since the game was released on August 3. Players have, of course, noted their love for the good boy on social media where Scratch now joins the likes of Turgle from Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Torgal from Final Fantasy 16 as a big competitor for 2023’s cutest character.

Despite the huge number of interactions with Scratch, many players have noted this simply isn’t enough. With Baldur’s Gate 3 entering the top ten list of games on Steam based on all-time peak player count it has been noted that while 750,000 players might have shown their love and appreciation for the good boy, nearly 70,000 players have yet to do so. One player noted their frustration on Reddit saying, “This is actually terrible in my opinion. That means considering a peak time at 800k+ players, that a lot of people have never scratched him!!! ALOT!!! I’m disappointed, he’s really easy to get.”

We, along with many players, hope that these players will return to right their wrongs and perhaps even indulge in a game of fetch with Scratch. With the PlayStation 5 release date for Baldur’s Gate 3 just a few weeks away let this next sentence serve as a warning to future Baldur’s Gate 3 console players. Pet. The. Dog.

In other Baldur’s Gate 3 news, Baldur’s Gate 3 fans are tired of accidentally getting into relationships by being nice and Baldur’s Gate 3 patch notes today gives Scratch more freedom.
