The Baldur’s Gate 3 Panel from Hell showcase has made fans even more excited to get their hands on the third main line series installment, but not for the reason you might think. Although the in-depth exhibition for Larian Studios’ upcoming creation showed plenty of its sprawling world and immersive story, the main cause for the increased hype surrounding the game is mainly due to the fact that you’ll be able to romance a sharp-clawed, jagged-toothed grizzly bear.

Now, you may be wondering why in the world anyone would want to make love to a massive mammal that can chase you down just as quickly as it can eat you. Fortunately, this isn’t one of those types of animals as the bear in question is actually a Druid that has the ability to shape-shift into the furry creature that’s typically found rummaging through abandoned picnic baskets in national parks.

Based on the provocative scenes shown during Larian Studios’ Panel from Hell showcase, the Druid is an NPC named Halsin who happens to be one of the many Baldur’s Gate 3 companions you’ll meet at a certain point in the story. It also appears as if Halsin can’t control his shape-shifting whenever he experiences strong emotions so with this in mind, if you get close enough to him at some point in your adventure, you’ll eventually be given the option to romance him in his natural, animal kingdom form.

Of course, you can also choose a completely different route instead as evidenced by the multiple dialogue options shown during the scene. However, based on many of the comments under several Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit posts, it seems that several players are planning on choosing the “romance a bear” option once they get the chance to do so.

The community already has reacted with plenty of memes, such as placing the cheeky ‘Not Safe For Stream’ title card next to scenes from the movie The Revenant. There’s also a fair few declarations, such as this one that proclaims “I’m gonna romance Halsin as a halfling. RIP.” It’s not all horndogging though, as the ironically named Hornyforastarion asks “Why are romance scenes in this game so beautiful?”

No matter which path you decide to go in Baldur’s Gate 3, it appears Larian Studios is set to provide every person with plenty of diverse romantic choices in the game – even if one of those options is dangerously straddling the line between bestiality and consensual lovemaking between two mythical beings.
