Does Baldur’s Gate 3 have crossplay?
No, Baldur’s Gate 3 currently does not support crossplay between PC and PlayStation 5. It has been confirmed that an update will enable BG3 crossplay between consoles and PC at a later date. Thanks to a Larian FAQ on the game, we know that the feature is coming. Michael Douse, Larian’s director of publishing also commits to this. Technical difficulties slowed down progress on cross platform multiplayer between different hardware.
“It was always in the planning,” Douse said. “But we knew it wouldn’t be for launch. It’s in the roadmap, and though we have an idea of when we’d like to get it ready for, we don’t want to put a date on it until we’re sure.”
When will BG3 support crossplay?
There is no expected release date for BG3 crossplay. There are limits to the support currently being given to crossplay in the game. Cross-platform progression is the only element of crossplay that is fully supported. Basically, you’ll be able to maintain single-player save files across different platforms like PC, Mac, and PlayStation 5. If you want to pick up a game you were playing on PC and move over to one of your consoles, you’ll be able to do so. This provides greater flexibility for players to choose how they want to play.
Larian Studios has confirmed though that while cross-progression is supported, crossplay between platforms is currently not supported. If it’s a case of launchers, like Steam or GoG, then you’ll be able to play with friends and fellow gamers without any issues.
