A new Avowed trailer has now given us an all-new look at Obsidian’s upcoming fantastical role-playing adventure game and the scenes that have been shown makes it look like a cross between Skyrim’s world and combat with a few Forspoken magic elements sprinkled throughout as well. Unfortunately, much like other reveals during the event, a specific release date hasn’t been given out yet so you’ll have to remain patient for now if you want to play it – but it will be coming in 2024.

However, it seems that the wait will all be worth it since there should be plenty to explore and do in its world based on the preview provided by the developers. Based on the latter part of the trailer, it seems the game will also be playable through PC and current generation Xbox consoles since it was revealed during the Microsoft gaming company’s showcase. Its availability on Sony and other systems, though, is currently unclear.

Following its initial display during the Xbox Games Showcase, Obsidian Entertainment studio head Feargus Urquhart has given us an even better look at what we can expect through a detailed blog post. Based on his statements, Avowed will be taking place in the world of Eora where you’ll be able to come across a diverse collection of “bustling port towns and rolling hills adorned with weird and fantastical plant life.”

The companions you meet during your travels will apparently play an important part in the story as well. Not only will they be able to guide you while you discover the game’s sprawling world, but they’ll also be there to assist you in combat as you take on the dangerous creatures and threatening enemies that Avowed has to offer.

Much like Skyrim, you’ll be taking on foes in a first-person point of view so you will be able to completely immerse yourself in the story. However, there will most likely be a third-person POV option as well if you don’t prefer the previous option, although this feature hasn’t been confirmed at the time of writing.

With all this in mind, Avowed is shaping up to be an amazing adventure RPG that will have players undoubtedly exploring its lands for more than a few hours. If you’re as excited as we are and want to see what it has on offer for yourself, then check out the stunning trailer that Obsidian Entertainment has provided.
