Atari has announced that Smash Court Tennis 3 will be released across Europe for Xbox 360 in June 2008, just in time for the Wimbledon Tennis Championship.

Smash Court Tennis 3 is the first in the popular series created for the new generation of consoles, boasting enhanced visuals, improved player animations, realistic shadows, skin shaders and HDR rendering.

The game will test the player’s skills against 16 of the world’s best players, including Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova, Rafael Nadal and Martina Hingis, and rising talents including Italy’s Andreas Seppi and Nicole Vaidisova of the Czech Republic.

Players will create their own tennis pro and will be able to fully customise his or her appearance including rackets, shoes, hairstyles, skin tone and clothing.

Gameplay modes on offer will include a tutorial, Arcade, Pro-Tour and Exhibition where up to four players can compete on one console. The game will also feature online play over Xbox LIVE for up to four players, complete with rankings and tournaments.

Smash Court Tennis 3 is scheduled for release on Xbox 360 in June.
