Doom 3 can’t usually be mentioned without also mentioning delays, but for once, this news comes free from any such bad news. We finally have a solid release date for both Doom 3 on the Xbox and Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil on the PC. Both games will be released worldwide during the week of April 4th 2005.

The Xbox port is being handled by Vicarious Visions and includes a few features not found in the original PC release. Most exciting is a cooperative gameplay mode over Xbox Live, but there is also support for 480p, widescreen and Xbox Live competitive multiplayer support. Doom 3 on Xbox will be published by id Software and comes in two flavours. The more meaty special edition will contain full versions of the original Ultimate Doom and Doom II, each playable either competitively or cooperatively in split screen on your Xbox.

Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil is being co-developed by Nerve Software and id Software. The expansion picks up two years after the last game left off and includes deadly new enemies and weapons.

We’ll bring you more coverage on the two games nearer their April release date.
