The next event to touch down in Apex Legends is Voidwalker, and it comes with a new town takeover, a limited time mode, challenges, and exclusive skins and content.

Respawn gave us all the deets in a news post on the Apex Legends site. From September 3 to September 17, the Voidwalker event will follow the story of Wraith. Underneath Kings Canyon are the haunted ruins of the research facility that Wraith escaped from, and they have now been unearthed. Octane’s town takeover provided new and exciting opportunities for high-velocity eliminations and general zaniness, and Wraith’s town takeover is no different. The Project: Wraith buildings will appear in the game, and within them is a functional prototype portal that will transport players to the floating base for loot snaffling or a quick escape.

There will be a limited time mode called ‘Armed and Dangerous’, in which loot is extremely rare and the only weapons on offer are sniper rifles and shotguns. Eight challenges will unlock exclusive skins, badges, loading screens, and more. In addition, Respawn are chucking in another double XP weekend from September 6 to September 9, allowing players to accumulate level and Battle Pass progression for Top 5 finishes and wins.

Finally, a Direct Purchase shop will be launched. This will boast a set of Wraith themed cosmetics, like the Voidwalker skin and custom character select animation, plus a few other ‘lower price point items’. These are specific to the event, will be priced at $5.00, and are on rotating weekly schedule during Voidwalker. Six new legendary items will be thrown into the core loot pool, and players can preview these through the Direct Purchase shop. They will also be craftable or unlocked in packs, as well as listed in the shop.

Spooky content seems to be descending upon Apex Legends, as a leak at the GameStop Managers Conference showed off Halloween skins for the bloodthirsty battlers, a new weapon, and a new hero

Apex Legends is out now on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
