After ten years of everyone begging for a sequel, Alien Isolation 2 is finally in the works. Announced in a relaxed Twitter post, the horror sequel is actually happening, and we couldn’t be happy.

Alien Isolation 2 is actually real

Revealed in a post on the original game’s Twitter account, SEGA and Creative Assembly are officially at work on the new horror game for modern platforms.

The original game’s creative director, Al Hope, told fans the new sequel is in “early development”, and that the team has heard players calls for a sequel over the past decade.

“On the 10th anniversary, it seems only fitting to let you know that we have heard your distress calls loud and clear,” Hope said. “Today, I’m delighted to confirm, on behalf of the team, that a sequel to ALIEN: ISOLATION is in early development. We look forward to sharing more details with you when we’re ready. Once again, thank you.”

As a sequel to the 1979 horror film, Alien Isolation was one of the best horror games ever made. In our review back in 2014, we said:

“A masterwork of atmosphere and environmental design, Alien: Isolation may be standing on the shoulders of giants, but it’s also one of the few franchise games to do so that doesn’t topple off disastrously.”

Worth the wait

With the game currently in early development, it’s not known how long it’ll take for Alien Isolation 2 to release. However, judging by the quality of the original game, it’ll definitely be worth the wait.
