Alan Wake fans could be set for a happy Halloween indeed, as word comes that the previously-announced sequel Alan Wake 2 could be with us by October.
That’s according to one of the game’s voice actors – Matthew Porretta, who voices the titular character himself. He was speaking to the Monsters, Madness and Magic podcast (as spotted by Gematsu) and may have let slip more than he intended when asked about working on the highly-anticipated follow up. “I’ve been working on it – that’s supposed to come out in October. We’re in the middle of working on it now. In fact, I was just in Finland last week. That’s where the company’s from – Remedy – amazing people.”
Following the slip Remedy may have inadvertently confirmed the leak, as according to the podcast’s official YouTube account they got in touch with the podcast about the info, though it was too late to edit with the cat seemingly already out of the bag. At the time of writing, Remedy is yet to release an official statement – but fans are pleased with the timing of the potential date should it bear out to be true.
“Can’t come soon enough,” says HeitorO821 on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, “The first one is in my top 10 so my hopes are really high for this one.” Fans too are noting the timing is very apt, given the sequel will be steering hard into the horror aspects of the series, as noted by Luck88 “Since it’s Remedy’s first survival horror it mean it’ll fit Halloween like a glove!”
Given the timing, it’s speculated the official release date announcement could be expected as soon as this week’s PlayStation Showcase, set to take place this Wednesday. If that’s the case, we shouldn’t have too much longer to find out if this indeed true. Alan Wake 2 is set to come out on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and was said to be “nearing release” back in April.
